A big church in the ancient city of Pisidia, located in the southern province of Isparta’s Yalvaç district, has been finally unearthed after three years of work.
The church, built in the sixth century, is believed to have been destroyed during a big fire in the 11th or 12th century.
The first celebration of the miraculous icon of Holy Mother of Pisidia was held September 3 2016 in the recently constructed church of Panagia Pisidiotissa, Alanya.The celebration started with the Vesper on the eve of the holiday, and on the next day Matins and the Divine Liturgy was held.
With an Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated on July 17, 2016 the Synaxis of All the Saints of Pisidia, Side and Antalya in the newly Holy Church of the Virgin Mary "Pisidiotissa" in Alanya for the first time, by the Metropolitan Sotirios of Pisidia cooperates with him Archimandrite Theologos Chryssanthakopoulos and Economos Fr. Constantine Shevchenko, vicar of the church.
On June 29, 2016, in the day of memory of the glorious Apostles Peter and Paul, a group of pilgrims from Alanya, headed by the Parish Priest of the Orthodox Church of Holy Mother of Pisidia Fr Constantine (Schevchenko) , went for the Divine Liturgy to the Church of St. Paul- St. Alypius in Antalya.
